Strong Roots

$60.00

This ancient Limber Pine has seen its fair share of fierce winter chinooks and dry summers. Inspired by the stubborn, twisted trees hanging onto the ridges in Castle Wildland Provincial Park, this print is a tribute to an old survivor that uses deep, strong roots to brave the harsh high altitude conditions.

To bring this print to life, I used a "jigsaw" printmaking method. I carved the design out of a single linoleum block, then carefully cut it apart like puzzle pieces so I could ink the two colours separately. After locking them back together, they are rolled through the press as a single print.
